Cacao-Trace commitments
The Cacao-Trace programme has four areas of commitment it aims to benefit:
- Farmers
- The planet
- Customers
- Consumers
Puratos works within the chain to improve processes that produce a higher quality of chocolate and increased value. Customers and consumers receive a superior chocolate, while the value is then shared with environmental programmes, cocoa farmers and their surrounding communities.
This cycle is a sustainable approach to cocoa production, the benefits of which are felt throughout the whole chain and far beyond.
Superior quality
Caring for the cocoa plant from the very beginning provides the best possible crop. The highest quality beans are then selected and specially fermented to create a unique and superior taste which produces a higher value chocolate.
This considered approach involves working with farmers from the outset, informing them of best practices and improving processes to create the best possible cocoa. This improves their livelihood and consistently provides a superior quality chocolate that customers and consumers can rely on.
"At Cacao-Trace we master the fermentation process to ensure our chocolate and cocoa-based products have a Great Taste. Doing Good is our focus so Cacao Trace farmers benefit from the value they create.”
Sylvestre Awono, Group Cacao Manager at Puratos.
Re-shaping the cocoa chain
Working directly with farmers allows Puratos to implement sustainable practices throughout the cocoa chain, re-writing typical industry standards and moulding the future of cocoa production for the better.
Controlled separation of Cacao-Trace cocoa from other cocoa beans throughout the process guarantees the physical traceability of all Cacao-Trace chocolate. Customers can be confident that every delivery of Cacao-Trace cocoa beans is validated and registered, so they can purchase with peace of mind that they're receiving a superior quality product, sustainably sourced. One that tastes good and does good.
