The granita is a semifrozen dessert originally from Sicily, and made from water, sugar and various fruit flavourings.
It’s frozen at slow speed to create larger ice crystals and stirred continuously.
Here are some flavour suggestions to whet your appetite:
Pineapple granita
Ingredients2000g Leonce Blanc pineapple fruit puree 1500 water 500g sugar |
MethodPour all of the ingredients into a bucket or bowl and blend thoroughly. Then poured into your batch freezer and select the ‘granita’ setting. When finished, these are best served straight away as they will not hold well in the cabinet for long. |
Banana granita
Ingredients2000g Leonce Blanc banana fruit puree 1600g water 400g sugar 10g lemon juice |

Coconut granita
Ingredients2000g coconut pulp, blended 1500g water 700g sugar |

Decoration
Slices or pieces of the fruit can be used to decorate. If you add a little alcohol then a cocktail umbrella and a straw can be an eye catching addition. |
